Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When running vRealize Operations Manager (vROPS) 6.x Standard Edition, you experience these symptoms:

  • A dashboard is generated from a metric chart under All Metrics.
  • Unable to delete generated dashboards.

Environment

VMware vRealize Operations 8.0.x
VMware vRealize Operations 8.1.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.6.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.5.x
VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.0.x

Cause

The Standard Edition of vRealize Operations Manager 6.x does not include the ability to create, delete or edit dashboards.
If a dashboard is generated from a metric chart under All Metrics, the generated dashboard cannot be deleted afterwards.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in a future release of vRealize Operations Manager.

To work around this issue, delete the dashboards from the command line:

  1. Log in to the Master node as root via SSH or Console.

  2. Navigate to the /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/tools/opscli directory.

  3. Run the following command to delete the dashboard:

    ./ops-cli.sh dashboard delete username dashboard_name

Note: Where username is the name of the user that generated the dashboard and replace dashboard_name with the name of the generated dashboard.
For example: ./ops-cli.sh dashboard delete admin 'VM Metric Dashboard'
