Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to rename a virtual network in VMware Fusion. When creating a custom network adapter the default name comes up as vmnet, you can change the name to something more descriptive or unique.

Environment

VMware Fusion Pro 11.x

Resolution

To rename the virtual network in VMware Fusion :

1. Click VMware Fusion in the menu bar.
2. Click Preferences.
3. Click Network.
4. Unlock the padlock at the bottom left hand side.
5. Authenticate using your MAC Password
6. Double Click on a Custom network Adapter
7. The current name will be highlighted and it should allow renaming the adapter
8. Click on Apply
