Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Importing an OVF in vCloud Connector fails
  • Cannot import an OVF in vCloud Connector
  • vCloud Connector Node logs and plug-in interface reports the error:

    The task has failed. Reason : OVF import failed. 500: Unable to perform this action. Contact your cloud administrator.



Environment

VMware vCloud Connector 2.5.x

Cause

This issue may occur due to one of these reasons:

  • An ISO image may be attached to the virtual machine
  • Virtual machine settings is incorrect

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the Devic Type option in the virtual machine settings to Client Device option:
  1. Right-click the virtual machine that fails to upload and click Edit Settings.
  2. On the Hardware tab, select the CD/DVD drive.
  3. Review the Device Type section in the right pane and verify if the Datastore ISO file option is selected.
  4. Change the selection to Client Device.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If there is more than one CD/DVD drive, repeat Steps 3 to 5 for all drives.
