Issue/Introduction

  • There are dummy opaque networks on VC with type "nsx.logicalswitch" after migration from NSX-T NVDS to CVDS.
  • Opaque network is visible from vCenter side however the vNICs for VMs are connected to a different segment.
  • The VM that is associated to the orphaned portgroup contains snapshots.

Cause

vCenter shows these portgroups because there are snapshots of VMs still connected to the legacy opaque network

Resolution

This is a condition that may occur in a VMware NSX environment.

Workaround:

Right click on the VM in question, hover on "Snapshots" and click on "Delete All Snapshots". Once the snapshots are removed, the VM should be disassociated from the legacy opaque network.
