Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

NSX Upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.1.0 fails with error: unable to put nsx-mgr-0 into maintenance mode

The upgrade cannot be completed

The upgrade steps are empty in the UI, so the user will not know which step of NSX manager upgrade has failed

Checking
get group maintenance-mode status
shows maintenance mode status as TRANSITIONING_INTO_MAINTENANCE_MODE for group https

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 4.x
VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

Upgrade of nsx manager fails due to reverse-proxy/auth service's failure to enter maintenance mode during upgrade

Resolution

Finish upgrade to NSX 4.1.0

Workaround:

Restart auth service using CLI command
restart service auth
and continue with the upgrade

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

On 4.1.0 upgrade fails for nsx manager going to 4.1.0
