Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • vracli service status command shows below service in Stopped state.

root@vraAppliance [ ~ ]# vracli service status
Service                    State    Health    Nodes    CPU     Memory    Persistent Disk
-------------------------  -------  --------  -------  ------  --------  -----------------
Infrastructure

etcd-service               Stopped


Note: You may also observe other infrastructure services in stopped state, when viewing the result of vracli service status command.


Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 8.x

Cause

etcd-service has been moved outside of kubernetes set of services and is now running as a systemd service. 

Resolution

To determine the status of the etcd-service run the following command:

systemctl status etcd.service

Note: In future versions, there could be more services that are expected to be in a stopped state depending on architectural design and environmental configurations.


Additional Information

Impact/Risks:

In general, services that are reported as Stopped by the vracli service status command should not be regarded as problematic. Only a finding that a service is Started but not Healthy would require further investigation.
