Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • You just upgraded vRealize Automation to 8.8.2 or later.
  • When requesting a catalog item with external values, you see an exception alert with an error similar to:

There was a problem retrieving form evaluation context: Could not find the evaluation context of the workflow with id undefined in the vRO named "embedded-VRO" at endpoint https://vra-fqdn:443

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 8.x

Cause

In the updated version, it is now required for catalog items to include a property referencing the workflow ID.
However, for older catalog items, this ID is absent, leading to the failure of the request to retrieve the workflow evaluation context.

Resolution

An automated content source reimport is scheduled at regular intervals. During these reimports, the missing property gets configured, effectively resolving the issue. If you require an immediate reimport, see the workaround section for more information.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, if you do not want to wait for a scheduled reimport task, save the content sources manually:
  1. Navigate to Service Broker and select Content and Policies > Content Sources.
  2. Select your content source(s) of type Orchestrator.
  3. Select all workflows and click Save and Import.
This action will promptly update the content source's status.
