Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: After deploying VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x with NSX Edge successfully , you experience these symptoms:
Adding a DHCP pool fails
You see the error:
Invalid host name <name.local>. A valid host name contains only ASCII alphabet, number, hyphen, and dot; total length less than 255 , and each label less than 64.
Environment
VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x
Cause
This issue occurs due to additional restrictions that are added in VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.x for domain names in DHCP config.
Note: VMware NSX for vSphere 6.1.x is not impacted on this issue.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.2.
To work around this issue if you are unable to upgrade, use a valid top-level three character domain name in accordance with RFC2396.
Some valid Top Level Domains:
Infrastructure TLD’s like arpa, root
Generic TLD’s like biz, com, info, net, org.
Country Code TLD’s like jp, in, uk, us.
Local TLD’s like localhost, localdomain, "localhost.localdomain"
