VCF upgrade pre-checks fail for vCenter Server and/or PSC health checks

Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to to resolve the health check error and complete the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) upgrade.

Symptoms:
  • vCenter Server(VC) and/or PSC health check appears unhealthy (Orange)
  • VMware Cloud Foundation upgrade pre-check fails because of unhealthy VC/PSC


Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the vCenter Server VM size was set to tiny during initial configuration. The resources provided are insufficient for upgrading VCF.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, increase the resources for the vCenter Server VM.
  1. Right-click the vCenter Server VM in the inventory and select Edit Settings.
  2. Select the Virtual Hardware tab, increase the VM Memory:
  • In the Memory text box, increase the amount of RAM to for the virtual machine to at least 24 GB.
  • Select whether the memory is specified in MB, GB or TB.
  1. Click Save.
  2. Restart the vCenter Server.
