Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • During a cross domain repoint of an embedded node to a domain with existing nodes, the process fails while attempting to register services with lstool.
  • In log file /var/log/vmware/cloudvm/cmsso_util.log, you see entries similar to :
2020-06-01T17:27:11.52Z INFO cmsso_util Changing domain names in spec file: /storage/domain-data/service-phase-data/specs/########-####-####-####-########ef4b.spec

2020-06-01T17:27:13.239Z INFO cmsso_util lstool register services failed: 1

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 6.7.x

Cause

This issue is caused by an incorrect logic for assigning the destination SSO Admin password. Instead of providing the destination password, it provides the source password.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vCenter Server 6.7 U3g

Workaround:
To work around this issue, change the SSO Admin (Eg. [email protected]) password of Source vCenter Server to the same password as the destination vCenter Server.
