This article provides steps to update the password of the service account used by vCenter Server service.
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 6.5.x
Resolution
To change/reset password for service account user for vCenter Server service on vCenter Server 6.5 using
vmon update:
- Log in to vCenter Server as a root user.
- Navigate to the folder where vmon is installed.
By default, it is C:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\vmon\.
- Run vmon with -p option and username.
For example, vmon.exe -p username@domainname
where, username@domainname is the existing username used for service.
- Enter the password and press enter.
Note: After executing vmon prompt requesting for password is not visible. Enter the password and press enter.
This resets the password for the account.
