Issue/Introduction

When VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 has been deployed with an external Platform Service Controller, you may experience these symptoms:
  • Cannot login to VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 using Use Windows Session Credentials option
  • You see the error:

    Windows session credentials cannot be used to log into this server.
    Enter a user name and password.


  • Entering the user credentials manually results in a successful login
  • The user is in a large number of groups in the Active Directory

VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vCenter Server 6.0.

To work around this issue:
  1. Connect to VMware vCenter Server using the VMware vSphere Web Client or by manually entering the user credentials within the vSphere Client.
  2. Ensure that the vCenter Server Appliance is joined to the Active Directory domain.
