For more information, see VMware vCenter Server 6.0 Update 3g Release Notes - Known - Miscellaneous Issues
Workaround:
To workaround this issue, use one of these options:
Option 1 - Client Integration Plug-in installation fails after upgrading to vCenter Server 6.0 U3g:
- Download and install the missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio that are supported by your system before installing the Client Integration Plug-in.
Notes:
- Check if packages are installed on your host machine by using Add/Remove Programs.
- Check packages you need depending on your Windows version in the System Requirements section for the different versions of Visual C++ Redistributable Packages on the Microsoft website.
- Install both the x86.exe and x64.exe of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio.
Option 2 - Client Integration Plug-in installation fails after upgrading to vCenter Server 6.0 U3g:
Install the Visual C++ Redistributable file manually from the vCenter Server Client Integration Plug-in Installation files:
- Attempt the installation of the Client Integration Plug-in as normal.
- When the installation wizard reaches the error dialog pop-up, do not click OK, do not press Enter.
- Open your %TEMP% folder in Windows explorer.
- Find and make a copy of the vcredist_x86.exe file to another location, the Windows desktop for example.
Note: vcredist_x86.exe will be deleted in %TEMP% folder if you press the OK at the error popup.
- Install vcredist_x86.exe from the file you coped in step c.
- Confirm successful installation of the vcredist_x86 package.
- Reinstall the Client Integration Plug-in using the wizard.
