Re-deployment of VMware Identity Manager using VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager

Issue/Introduction

Enable users to re-deploy a new global environment after removing an existing one from VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager.

Environment

VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7
Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.18.x

Resolution

Re-deploy VMware Identity Manager using vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager:

1. Take snapshot of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager, VMware Identity Manager node(s) and it's integrated products in the current state.
2. Power off the VMware Identity Manager node(s) and rename the VMware Identity Manager node(s) in vCenter.
3. Generate a Base64 encoded token for the admin@local user by running the following command:
   
   

   echo -n 'admin@local:<PASSWORD>' | base64

   Note: Replace <PASSWORD> with the actual admin@local password and copy the resulting string for use in a later step.
   
4. In a web browser, navigate to https://vRSLCM-hostname/api/swagger-ui.html#/
   Note: Replace vRSLCM-hostname with the hostname or IP Address of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager.
   
5. Select private-internal-api from the specification dropdown menu.
6. Click Authorize. In the Value field, enter the following:
   
   

   Basic <Encoded_Token_from_Step_3>

7. Under Environment Controller, invoke the end-point
   
   

   /lcm/lcops/api/v2/environments/globalenvironment/unsafe, with the following request body.

8. Waiting for few Mins (5 Mins)
9. Start with the deployment of VMware Identity Manager from Aria Lifecycle Manager
10. Follow the steps from the respective products to re-register VMware Identity Manager with the products integrated.
11. Once the products are in a working state, clean the snapshots taken in step 1.
