Upgrading from ESXi 6.7 to 7.0 does not upgrade the async lpfc driver

Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions for upgrading ESX 6.7 to ESXi 7.0, and installing the latest asynchronous lpfc driver.

Symptoms:
When upgrading from ESXi 6.7 to 7.0, the latest 6.7 async lpfc driver installed with ESXi 6.7 is retained. The 6.7 async lpfc driver will work in 7.0, though does not contain complete 7.0 feature capability.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.0

Resolution

To upgrade from ESXi 6.7 to 7.0 and update the lpfc driver:

1. Upgrade your ESXi 6.7 to 7.0
2. Download an ESXi 7.0 asynchronous lpfc driver component package from https://support.broadcom.com
3. Install the 7.0 lpfc driver component
