"IMA_RemoveStaticDiscoveryTarget" error running iscsi adapter discovery statictarget remove command

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• The ESXi host is using one of following devices:
  • Emulex Corporation HP FlexFabric adapters appear offline 
  • Emulex OneConnect OCe14000 iSCSI CNA
  • Emulex OneConnect OCe11100 10Gb iSCSI Initiator
  • Emulex OneConnect OCe11100 iSCSI CNA
• Running the iscsi adapter discovery statictarget remove command fails with this error:

Reason: iScsiException: status(c0000000): Invalid parameter; Message= IMA_RemoveStaticDiscoveryTarget Failed to remove static target.

• In the vmkernel log file you see entries similar to:

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.0

Cause

This is a  known issue with the inbox elxiscsi driver (Emulex CNIC card. Model: OneConnect OCe14000).

Resolution

This will be resolved in an upcoming release.

Workaround:
Retry the command several times.
