Issue/Introduction

When troubleshooting issues it is often helpful to consult the logs.  These can be found within the support page.

To examine logs for a specific MP you will want to drill down into the master node and then COLLECTOR > Adapters > MP*

For this example we will use the True Visibility Suite NetApp Management Pack.

If for example you have multiple adapter instances you will also need to be able to distinguish the log files for each adapter instance from one another.  To this end each MP's adapter instance is assigned an Internal Resource ID.  For this to be beneficial you will also need to establish what resource ID that is assigned to each adapter instance.  This can be completed within the Inventory Explorer.

Environment

VMware vRealize True Visibility Suite 1.0

Resolution

vROps 6.6 and higher

1. Click on Administration.
2. Expand Configuration and click on Inventory Explorer.

3. Expand "Adapter Instances".
4. Click on the top level of the adapter instance type you wish to get the internal ID(s) for. In this example, we used F5 BIG-IP Adapter Instance.

5. Click the "columns" icon toward the bottom of the screen.
6. Check the box for "Internal ID" and click OK.

7. Now you will see the Internal ID listed for the adapter type. Scroll over until you see Internal ID listed.
