High Availability shows peer serial number unknown and no standby links

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
In an Enhanced or Standard HA deployment the active SASE SD-WAN Edge might:

• Show unknown value in the "peer serial number" section.
• Fail to detect links on the standby Edge.
• Fail to route traffic through the Standby Edge WAN links.

Environment

SD-WAN by VeloCloud

Cause

This issue is caused by defect id: 110564.
The problem is seen when a child process takes over the TCP port used for Active-Standby communication, leading to TCP session to fail and HA information not being exchanged as expected.

Resolution

The fix is included in SASE SD-WAN Edge software releases:
5.2.0.0 (R5200-20230530-GA) or later
4.5.2 (R452-20230628-GA) or later

Workaround:
Restarting the Active Edge in the HA pair will allow it to come back up normally.
