Issue/Introduction
Symptoms: Edge software upgrade fails during image download due to Invalid download checksum. This issue occurs on lossy network connection sites (bad internet quality)
SASE Orchestrator UI shows the below events (invalid download checksum)
There could be multiple reasons for software download failure
The edge is too far away from the VCO, for instance an edge in Philippines connected to a VCO in US, Virginia. This can increase the latency between them and so the images take even longer to download or they fail mid way.
Other times, the error is that the edge has a low bandwidth interface and so errors can start when there's user traffic competing to use the bandwidth too. We've seen cases where the image size in the VCO doesn't match the size of the image when downloaded.
There is also a known issue [bug ID 123002] traced to the VMware SASE Orchestrator having an incorrect download timeout value that causes some download sessions to close before the download is complete
Resolution
For above mentioned causes, first two are environmental. If Edge and Orchestrator are connected through high packet loss/unstable link then the download might fail.
As a workaround the edge can manually be upgraded to the desired software version.
Workaround: Please open up a Support case if you face this issue and want to implement the fix/workaround.
The third one is caused by bug 123002
This issue is resolved in 5.2.0.4 (R5204-20230831-GA) or later.

Workaround: As a workaround we can modify the timeout value on the SD-WAN Orchestrator. Please open up a Support ticket if you face this issue and want to implement the fix/workaround.
