SD-WAN Edge stuck in boot after being powered on.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
A VMware SD-WAN Edge (VCE) will not come online after powering up.
The edge will have power but the LED is stuck in white or blue (solid or flashing).
The edge has power but is unresponsive.

Resolution

Common troubleshooting steps prior to opening a support case:

  1. Try power cycling the Edge by unplugging it, waiting ten seconds and then restoring power.
  2. If the Edge still seems to be stuck in the booting process or not coming online, perform a factory reset.

If the issue persists, collect the following data prior to contacting support:

  • What is the Edge's serial number?
  • What is the model of the failed Edge?
  • What software version is the Edge running?
  • Were there any configuration changes or environmental problems prior to the failure?
  • Is the fault intermittent?
  • What is the reported time of failure?
  • How long has the edge been in operation?
  • Was a factory reset attempted?
  • What color is the LED on the front of the Edge?
  • Did the unit fail after a recent software upgrade attempt?

Once this information is collected, open a Technical Support case including the data to expedite a replacement.
