Restoring the vApp Options in Aria Operations for Logs

Issue/Introduction

The vApp Options for the Aria Operations for Logs appliance are disabled or empty.

Environment

VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.x
VMware vRealize Log Insight 8.x
VMware Aria Operations 8.12 and later

Cause

The below actions will result in the removal of the current vApp Options configuration

• restoring the appliance VM from backup
• recovering the appliance VM with SRM
• cross vCenter vMotion of the appliance VM
• disabling vApp Options for the appliance VM

Resolution

1. Log into the vSphere Client as an Administrator
2. Locate the Aria Operations for Logs appliance VM and select Actions > Power > Shut Down Guest OS
3. Navigate to the Configure > vApp Options tab
4. Click Edit
   
5. Check Enable vApp options
   
6. Click OVF Details and check the box for OVF environment transport > VMware Tools
   
7. Click OK
   
8. Under Properties click Add
9. Create the property in accordance to the attached vrlivappproperties.xlsx spreadsheet.
10. Click Save.
11. Select the radio button for the newly created property and click Set Value
12. Configure the Property value field to the correct value and click OK
13. Repeat steps 8-12 for all properties in the attached vrlivappproperties.xlsx spreadsheet
14. Power on the Aria Operations for Logs appliance VM
15. Repeat steps 2-14 on all other affected Aria Operations for Logs appliance VMs.
