- In one environment that encountered this issue, the end user had customized the M&R Smarts collector domain descriptor configuration file (such as pm.xml for Smarts IP, esm.xml for Smarts Server Manager, and so on).
- They had commented out most of the classes because they only wanted to collect data on a select number of classes.
- One of the classes that were uncommented, had a start="true" attribute, so the collector had no starting point for querying the Smarts repository.

"Please note the start attribute. It is VERY important not to forget it. It is used by the collector as an entry point into Smarts InCharge object repository."
