Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Cannot vMotion a virtual machine
  • vMotion fails at 10%
  • You see the general system error:

    0xbad003f

  • Running the vmkping command reports this error for at least one host:

    getaddrinfo() for "hostname" failed (success)

Cause

This issue occurs if the VMkernel port group is corrupted.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, remove and recreate the vSwitch and recreate the port group.
