vRealize Orchestrator SSH connection to a guest VM is failing with error "invalid privatekey"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Private key was generated using an external tool.
• The same private key can be used to authenticate to the same machine outside of vRealize Orchestrator.
• Workflow used to connect to a guest VM fails with an error:

invalid privatekey

Cause

This issue occurs if the SSH key pair was generated in a format not supported in vRealize Orchestrator.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, convert the existing private key to a PEM format or regenerate the key pair:

• To convert the existing private key, consult your external tool's manual.
