Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on the NSX-T Load Balancer visible in the NSX Manager User Interface.

Symptoms:

When Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service on VMware cloud is enabled in a VMware Cloud on AWS organization, the NSX-T Load Balancer configuration is visible in the NSX Manager interface. Users are unable to configure load balancing instances outside of Tanzu services.

Environment

VMware NSX-T

Resolution

When you open the NSX Manager in your version 1.16 SDDC or higher, it may display a Load Balancers tab with objects that can only be observed if the Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service (TKGS) has been activated. As part of TKGS, a Kubernetes service of type Load Balancer can be requested, and this is provisioned using an NSX-T Load Balancer to support this service. The NSX-T Load Balancer is only available when used with TKGS as part of its native integration and is not available for consumption outside of this service.  Figure 1 shows how the Load Balancer appears in the NSX Manager User Interface.

This message is expected and normal. Load balancing configurations created through Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service will work correctly as it uses an account that has the required permissions.
