Issue/Introduction

Hierarchical Acknowledge setting is found in SAM Global Administration console --> ICS Configuration Configuration --> System Defaults

Environment

All Smarts versions

Cause

Notification archived in SAM but not in OI due to hierarchical ack = false

Resolution

Hierarchical Acknowledge

Defines whether acknowledging or un-acknowledging a notification in the server sends the acknowledge (or unacknowledged) information to the underlying servers. If set to True, the notification in the underlying servers are also acknowledged or unacknowledged. If set to False, the notification in the underlying servers are not changed.
Default: True

If this setting for hierarchical acknowledge is set to FALSE, then if you manually acknowledge in SAM it will not pushed down to other SAM/low level SAM like Agg-SAM, or OI Domains.

If this setting is set to True, the notification, and changes to it, will filter down based on this condition:

If you only acknowledge the notification. This automatically promotes you to owner of the same, and the lower layer domains will show this.

NOTE1: The notification will NOT be pushed to the lower domains, if you only take ownership and DO NOT acknowledge them.
NOTE2: If the underlying SAM or OI domain receives a Clear and Archive, the notification will retain the ownership and not archive in the SAM domain in which the ownership was applied.

Additional Information

Notification is not acknowledged though Hierarchical Acknowledge setting is TRUE
