Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

The basic event flow in Optical Transport Manager is as below:
  • An Event is reported into Smarts for certain interface from a specific vendor.
  • The event is updated in Smarts topology as a Boolean attribute on certain object in the transmission topology domain(T-TX) -> such as InputPort -> IsLoSDetected = TRUE.
  • This information is synced to transmission analysis domain (A-TX).
  • An alarm is generated and reported onto the SAM console attached to the analysis domain.
Is there any way to define expiration for such alarms?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

As of Smarts OTM version 9.5.1, the default functionality of OTM does not support the ask detailed above.
If users require expiration to be added alarms processed via transmission topology domain -> transmission analysis domain route in OTM, then an enhancement request for the product has to be raised for consideration of this feature addition in next Smarts OTM version release.

Please contact Dell EMC Technical Support by quoting this knowledge article number if enhancement request is required to be raised on the mentioned behavior.
