Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

There is a special character in the Broker Service on Windows:

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

This is caused my a limitation in the MS Windows GUI.

Resolution

There are two workarounds for this?

Workaround 1:
If you do not have anything custom in your brokerConnect.conf file you do not need to define this --env variable in the service, so simply omit --env=SM_CLIENTCONNECT=brokerConnect.conf from service.

Workaround 2:
Have a separate install of Smarts just for the broker.
In the runcmd.sh add SM_CLIENTCLIENT=brokerConnect.conf.
omit --env=SM_CLIENTCONNECT=brokerConnect.conf from the service
Start the Service and because of addition in runcmd.sh you will still see ClientConnect environment variable used.
