Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Incorrect Threshold from the MIB generating OutOfRange alarms for VoltageSensor and TemperatureSensor

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The threshold values are not present or incorrect in the MIB and the Smarts is getting the threshold values from the MIB.

Smarts has the following set to TRUE in the Threshold tab, therefore the values must be set from the MIB, if the below is set to FALSE Smarts will use the Smarts manually configured threshold values

UseMIBThreshold = TRUE

Resolution

If you don't want to use the manual Smarts Threshold configuration, then the device vendor must address this issue from the MIB. Otherwise the below workaround will suppress the OutOfRange alerts

Set the UseMIBThreshold to FALSE and use the smarts threshold settings

From the Thresholds tab
  •    System Resournce Groups > settings >Environment
  •    Change UseMIBThresholds to false
  •    And increase the VoltageSensorHighThreshold value to 300 (max)
  •    Also increase the TemperatureHighThreshold value to 100
  •     Apply
  •     Reconfigured
