Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
VMWare Smart Assurance IP sm_server file size is zero (0)
Files in VMWare Smart Assurance IP <BASEDIR>/smarts/bin directory are showing a file size of zero (0)

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The runcmd file in <BASEDIR>/smarts/bin is either missing or the file size is zero because the file is corrupted for some reason.  The files in the <BASEDIR>/smarts/bin directory must link to the runcmd file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, obtain a known good copy runcmd file from another VMWare Smart Assurance installation and copy it to the <BASEDIR>/smarts/bin that has the problem runcmd file.  The runcmd file can be copied from another product install, and the VMWare Smart Assurance product version or domain type does not matter.  For example, you could copy a good runcmd file from the SAM/smarts/bin directory into the IP/smarts/bin directory.
