Smarts SAM: Why there is difference between IP and SAM device containment views for "Aggregate Adapters" tab?

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Difference seen between IP and SAM containment view of a device for "Aggregate Adapters" with respect to Type, Mode, CurrentUtilization and PeerSystemName columns.

IP:
7 columns are available.


SAM:
6 columns are available.
CurrentUtlization, PeerSystemName and Mode show different information than IP domain. Type column is not available.

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

This is determined to be a bug in Smarts. Code for containment view being different in IP and SAM suite. 

Resolution

Steps for implementing attached modified MAP-CONTAINMENT.import file in SAM installation as detailed below-
1. Stop the SAM domain. 
2. Copy the attached MAP-CONTAINMENT.import file to <Base directory>/SAM/smarts/local/conf/maps location in Smarts SAM installation.
3. Start the SAM domain.
4. Check the "Aggregated Adapters" tab in containment view of device in SAM. It should be now same as displayed in connected IP domain.

Additional Information

The modified MAP-CONTAINMENT.import file can be implemented for SAM 9.x versions as workaround.
