Issue/Introduction

SYMPTOMS:

• Not able to discover the SNMPv3 device through seed files as it is saying SNMP not reachable.

Environment

SMARTS - 10.1.x

SMARTS DM -2.x

Resolution

1. sm_edit must be used to encrypt the password and must avoid using "=" characters in the password, as it will cause encryption problem.
   
   The  =  characters in the password, that needs to be removed from device and the seedfile.
2. Because seedfile encryption will always break the password string wherever it encounters a  =  character.
3. Reason being that, seedfiles are a series of properties=value, therefore it makes sense that  =  would be an issue.
4. Hence the recommendation to remove that character from the password.
