Smarts SAM: Cannot view Containment for Aggregate SAM domain and Presentation SAM domain in Global Console; Receive "Containment is not available" message in new window

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Cannot view Containment for Aggregate SAM domain and Presentation SAM domain

In the Smarts SAM Global Console, when viewing the Aggregate SAM domain and the Presentation SAM domain, the option to select Containment is available. However, when clicking on Containment a new window appears reporting that Containment is not available for <Device Name> <Domain Name>.

The containment shows without issue from the Smarts IP domain.

Cause

The  server  INCHARGE-AM-PM has been changed to use the actual AM-PM domain name.  This line is used for mapping and is not meant to reference an actual domain name. The above issue can occur if this setting has been changed in either of the following places:

• In an updated dxa-conn-perf.conf configuration file in the Smarts SAM /local/conf directory
• In the dxa file used by the SAM domain for the underlying domain

Resolution

If you encounter this issue, do the following:

1. If the "Source" of the notification in the Smarts SAM Global Console is from OI or ESM, check the corresponding dxa file used by the SAM domain for the underlying domain. If the "server" line has been changed to the actual underlying domain name, change it to the following:

server  INCHARGE-AM-PM

2. If the "Source" of the notification in the SAM console is from the AM-PM domain, check the Smarts SAM /local/conf folder for an updated dxa-conn-perf.conf file. If the server  INCHARGE-AM-PM line has been changed to the actual AM-PM domain name, it needs to be changed back as in the following example dxa-conn-perf.conf file:
