How do I configure Smarts SAM to subscribe to the  "HighFDUsageWarning".?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

SAM is not configured, by default, to subscribe to this type of event.  There is no matching entry for this notification in the relevant dxa (data exchange) file.

Resolution

In order for SAM to display these types of notifications, SAM must be configured to subscribe to the appropriate events:
  1. Open the SAM domain in Global Manager Administration Console,  look for the domain type of your AM/PM in order to determine which 'dxa-*.conf' file is being used.
  2. By default, the IP domain uses dxa-conn-perf.conf file.  Modify the file with: <BASEDIR>/SAM/smarts/bin/sm_edit conf/ics/dxa-conn-perf.conf
  3. Scroll down and add the following HighFDUsageWarning  to the SM_ElementManage
    class section of the file

  4. Once the change has been made, there are two ways to commit the change to the SAM server:
    • Restart the SAM server, or
    • Commit changes while the server is still running:
      1. Modify any setting in your domain type ( example, INCHARGE-AM-PM-SUITE,  such as the Smoothing Interval).
      2. hit reconfigure button

  5. Thes events will start to propagate to the Global Console.  You may need to give it a short time to allow this to happen.
