With auto-discovery enabled, the Domain Manager automatically discovers candidate systems based on the systems initially added to the topology by discovery. Auto-discovery is useful when the topology information is incomplete or unavailable or when manual updates cannot be maintained. When enabled, auto-discovery takes IP addresses obtained from the discovered systems to identify additional discovery candidate systems.
Systems that match the auto-discovery filters and are added to the topology are also probed for any information about their neighbors. The auto-discovery cycle continues until no more new IP addresses match the auto-discovery filters. These filters, which are configurable, ensure that the auto-discovery process sweeps only the networks that the customer systems are configured to access.
Auto-Discovery Overview:- During the third phase of the discovery process, each system destined for the topology is probed to gather additional information for the creation of the topology.
If auto-discovery is enabled , this information is also used to identify IP addresses that may belong to undiscovered systems. These addresses are passed through the discovery process. This cycle continues until all matching systems have been discovered.
Steps in Running Auto-Discovery:-
Enable auto-discovery
Set default community strings
Set system limit
Create Auto-discovery filters
Filters are inclusive no filter, nothing found.
Initiate discovery
Any IP manager discovery can be used as a seed to trigger Auto-discovery. This includes:
Import from seed file
Add Agent
Discover All
Discover Pending
