The Smarts
sm_snmpwalk utility allows the operator to browse the entire MIB of a device. It will create a
.walk file, a
.mimic file, and a
.snap file for the device it is run against. These files can be used for testing of devices, troubleshooting certification issues, and generating new device certifications. This article explains a way to force the sm_snmpwalk utility to use a specific source IP address.
The
--help option for
sm_snmpwalk does not show any option to force the utility to route using a specific IP address.
However, the
sm_snmp utility shows the following option in its
--help:
--useif=<ip-address> Use this IP address as the source/destination
interface address for SNMP and ICMP packets.
Internal testing done by EMC Customer Service for Smarts shows that this option also works with the
sm_snmpwalk utility, despite the fact that it is not listed in the
sm_snmpwalk --help option:
