Smarts ESM: After shutting down ESM domain, it will not start but the following error shows in the logs; SMSS-E-ICF_ESERVERRUNNING-Server 'INCHARGE Domain' is already running

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Unable to Start ESM after a domain shutdown.  The logs says the ESM server has already started.

The log has no errors other than: SMSS-E-ICF_ESERVERRUNNING-Server 'INCHARGE-ESM' is already running

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

If you are getting the above error when starting a domain that was previously shutdown please try starting the domain with the no register option, if the domain starts, the issue is with the broker.  Please restart the broker to clean up the status.
