Unable to discover IPSec Tunnels for multiple devices

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Unable to discover IPSec Tunnels for many devices.
• Smarts IP Manager is unable to create the IPSec Tunnels for many devices.

Environment

All Supported Smarts releases

Cause

• IPSec tunnel discovery is supported in Smarts IP Manager; but only for Juniper, Fortinet and Cisco devices.
• The reason behind this is because the IPSec Tunneling was originally developed by Juniper, and Cisco also supported it. As a result, it was added in the Smarts IP Manager as well for supporting it on Cisco & Juniper Routers. Later the Fortinet devices were also added.
• The support of this feature is limited by the fact that the underlying device/router must support IPSec Tunneling and also have the relevant MIBs.

Resolution

If new devices are released in the market by other vendors which support IPSec Tunneling, an enhancement can be done in smarts to support those devices also.

 

In case if you wish to add any other device which has the IPSec Tunneling and not supported by Smarts, please raise a re-certification request for the device & mention the need to support the IPSec tunneling.
This will be evaluated by the product management team taken up as a device certification in the future releases of the product.
