Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Users are not able to use the SMARTS Business Dashboard or Web Console due to it being blocked

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

This is cause by the heightened security of Java 7 update 51.

The following error can be seen as well: 
Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main jar: http://<SERVER_NAME>:8080/webconsole/masterpiece.jar

Resolution

To resolve this issue on a Windows client perform the following steps to add the exception:

1. Go into control Panel
2. Click on java icon to open up the Java Control Panel
   •  
3. Go to the security tab
   • 
4. Click on the Edit Site List
   • 
5. Click on add button
   • 
6. Enter the URL of the application
   •  
7.  Add in this URL - http://esmcwbkup:8080/webconsole/masterpiece.jar 
8. Click OK twice to save and exit the Java Control Panel
