Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Smarts MPLS Topology shows no elements even though the Smarts IP Availability Manager AM domain has the "MPLS Switches" group populated.

The following conditions and system behaviors may be observed with this issue:
  • Smarts MPLS topology is not importing from the Smarts IP-AM domain.
  • Smarts MPLS is configured with the correct Smarts IP-AM domain, and there are members in the MPLS Switches group in the AM domain.
  • Running a topology sync runs and there are no apparent errors.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Smarts MPLS licensing limit has been reached or the feature is not available. When the Smarts MPLS domain starts, it checks for the L2VPN and the L3VPN license feature. If the license limit has been reached, or there are none of these features available, then the Smarts MPLS Topology  for Routers and Switches will not imported from the IP Domain. The log file will only show the information regarding License checkout just after startup.

Resolution

Check the Smarts Permanent License for the following license features that are required by Smarts MPLS to import router and switches in to the MPLS Topology:
  • AP_L2VPN

  • AP_L3VPN
