Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Using the test button in the VMWare VCOPS adapter times out after 30 seconds regardless of the settings used to connect to the Smarts Broker.

Users trying to connect the VMWare VCOPS adapter to Smarts 9.2.x or newer will find that the TEST button reports errors in trying to connect to Smarts.

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

VMWare has a hard coded 30 second timeout on the TEST button function in their GUI interface.  This does not allow enough time for the Testing to complete.

Resolution

Provided the credentials are correct for the Smarts Broker, customers should be able to click the OKAY button in the VCOPS GUI and confirm that the VCOPs performance notifications are populated in the SAM domain.
