Only able to discovery one of specific type of device into an AM-PM domain manager using SNMPv3

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Some customers have found that if they attempt to discover multiple devices of the same type into their domain, the first device will discover while the others will generate SNMP errors.

The errors would show up in the Pending List as well as in the domain log files.  They would look like this:

• Partial response from SNMP agent V3
• No response from SNMP agent V3

They would see no problems if discovering a single device or using SNMPv2.

Environment

Smarts 10.1.X

Cause

The devices had been improperly provisioned using the same engine ID which is a violation of SNMPv3 requirements.  This would confuse Smarts into believing that these were all the same device.

Resolution

Engine ID must be corrected on the devices.  If assistance is required with this process, it is recommended to reach out to the device vendor.
