SymDump for CICS SymDump Batch

Issue/Introduction

Question:

After installing CICS SymDump V9.1 our performance group has noticed every CSMI transaction has a little time on the L8 TCB. I know one of the main enhancements of this release was for the dump processing to be off loaded from the QR TCB to the L8 TCB. Could this cause the CSMI transaction to start on the L8 TCB? I am having problems understanding what SymDump would have to do with every CSMI transaction.

Answer:

By design, CA SymDump for CICS has a 'begin task' and 'end task' CICS TRUE(task related user exit) involved in every CICS transaction including the CSMI (or mirror) transaction. In releases 8.5 and 9.0, the SYMDUMP CICS TRUE was executed under the CICS QR TCB. However, beginning with release 9.1, the CICS TRUE is now executed under an L8 TCB. The amount of work performed in during the 'begin task' and 'end task' processing is very small.

Additional Information:

Refer to the CA Symdump for CICS Release 9.1 Release Notes for more information on the change from the QR TCB to the L8 TCB.
