This article explains the workarouind for following symptoms observed in Smarts.
Smarts IP: If a card is composed of interfaces and ports and the card is down, what happens to network adapters that are related to the card that is down?
Environment
SMARTS - 10.1.x
SMARTS DM - 2.x
Resolution
A card is ideally down when all the network adapters that are realized by the card are down themselves.
The MIB will reflect on this behavior as smarts polls the instrumented OID to obtain the data.
When a card is shown as down, all the network adapter down events will be suppressed as the Card Down is the root cause of the event.
The following is the code that explains the conditions the card down event relies on:
