Issue/Introduction

This article explains the workarouind for following symptoms observed in Smarts.

  • Smarts IP: If a card is composed of interfaces and ports and the card is down, what happens to network adapters that are related to the card that is down?

Environment

SMARTS - 10.1.x

SMARTS DM - 2.x

Resolution

  • A card is ideally down when all the network adapters that are realized by the card are down themselves.
  • The MIB will reflect on this behavior as smarts polls the instrumented OID to obtain the data.
  • When a card is shown as down, all the network adapter down events will be suppressed as the Card Down is the root cause of the event.
