Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


 The device discovers OK and is added to the topology, but the following error is seen in the Device Attributes:

 

During discovery of a device the following message appears in the log file: SWFE-E-ESNMPREQUEST-SNMP-GETNEXT Request failed Error Code genErr, Agent , OID

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

The device itself returned the genErr message while SMARTS IP is trying to get the value of the OID mentioned 

This is a generic error; which means that agent was not able to categorize this error and hence returned a generic error.

This is a device returned error and not a SMARTS coded one.
