Question from a customer

Is it true that if a "managed" interface is put into a polling group which has disable Fault Analysis enabled, then this is the equivalent of unmanaging an interface?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

Managing and Unmanaging an interface is done at the post processing level.
By default all interfaces are managed and ports will be managed only if it has a connectedVia relationship.

That said, after the post processing, a reconfigure script is executed that will create instrumentations for only the MANAGED entities.

Now, if the managed state is considered as a matching criteria in the P&T group and those interfaces are grouped and the setting "Disable fault analysis" is applied, this will eventually remove the instrumentation class but not alter the managed state of the interface.
