How to change log style of Smarts domains to print messages on one line

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Extract complete log messages from Smarts server logs by using Unix grep command

Not able to extract complete messages from Smarts server logs.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

Copy the attached script to <BASEDIR>/smarts/local/log directory
$ cd <BASEDIR>/smarts/local/log
$ awk -f legacy2singlelinelog.awk INCHARGE-AM_en_US_UTF8.log > INCHARGE-AM-single.log

The INCHARGE-AM-single.log will format each message to be on one line.
