Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When discovering IPv6 objects for cisco device types there are missing IPv6 objects at the end of discovery.

The IP address is discovered via the IP-MIB table and then tries to find IpAddressPfxPfx in .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.1.1.5, IpAddressIfIndex in .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.2.1.3 and IpAddressPrefix in .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.2.1.5 . If it does not find those values in those three Cisco specific oids, it deletes the entire IPv6 object.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The three oids (IpAddressPfxPfx in .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.1.1.5, IpAddressIfIndex in .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.2.1.3 and IpAddressPrefix in .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.1.2.1.5) are only used on old cisco models such as Cisco 2851xm, Cisco 3845, Cisco 6503, Cisco 6504-E, Cisco 6506, Cisco 6509, Cisco 6509-V-E, Cisco 7206VXR, Cisco 7600.

As per Cisco support, all the information that is needed for the above specific oids are contained in the IP-MIB and the IP-FORWARD-MIB. This is where IPv6 information is exposed for the majority of all xr and ios models.
