Symptoms:


Notifications generated for BroadcastThreshold exceeded. How to increase threshold to prevent notifications from occurring.
 

How do you list all settings that are applied to a specific port without drilling through every group under Polling & Thresholds. How do I use dmctl to list the groups applying settings to a specific port

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Port was added a group in which the threshold needed to be increased

Resolution

To list the groups applying settings to a specific port, run the following command from the <SMARTS>/bin directory:

./dmctl -s <domain> get Port::<Instance>::SettingsAppliedBy

e.g: ./dmctl -s InCharge-AM get Port::PORT-smarts.emc.com/86080::SettingsAppliedBy

SettingsAppliedBy = { Ethernet_Performance_Setting:ET-CFG-Port Groups - Access Ports/Ethernet, no discard alerts/Ethernet_Performance_Setting }

Now use the Polling and Thresholds console (Thresholds tab) to change the threshold values for the groups listed.
