Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

User has two environments running the same version of BGP and IP shows that one environment there are differences in the number of BGP full sessions.
Environment A:
    Has X number of BGP full sessions and Y number of BGP end points.
Environment B:
    Has a significant amount of BGP full session missing and gain more BGP half sessions instead.  The number of BGP end points in environment B is still the same.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

There's a peek entry in the dxa-am-v4v6.conf file to the line "class IP" to show "peek IsManaged TRUE":

class IP                   peek IsManaged TRUE

This caused an insufficient amount of IP address to be synced from IP domain to BGP doamin.
BGPProtocolEndPoint requires the IP address to establish peer relationship.  The peer relationship established is later on used during establish the BGP full session.
Because there is an insufficient amount of IP addresses, lots of the BGP protocol end points are not able to have an associated IP address and thus creates excessive half session and insufficient full session.

Resolution

User removed the "peek IsManaged True" entry for the "class IP" in the dxa-am-v4v6.conf file.

Additional Information

One can set the  MSI_AdapterManager::BGP-Adapter-Manager::TraceDiscovery to TRUE to trace the discovery process for BGP domain.
The outputs are written into the domain log.
